This conference, organised and hosted by NHS FIFE, is the first in a series of events, sponsored by the Scottish Executive Health Department, to examine Capacity Planning in NHS Scotland. This first conference will focus on the strategic approaches to Capacity Planning and consider how the NHS is applying management methodologies to improve the productivity of current resources.
The NHS is under increasing pressure to deliver lower waiting times whilst improving quality of care and reducing expenditure. On the face of it this looks like an impossible balancing act.
Some projects, most notably the Scottish Executive sponsored Collaborative Programmes, are introduced with greater support and training in the methodologies to be adopted and applied. However, there is a danger these projects sit apart from new Capacity Planning initiatives or that their objectives are diluted or diverted by the incorrect application of newly introduced management-based capacity projects.
There are a number of management approaches that are being introduced into our organisations to support the delivery of key objectives.
These approaches need to be applied in order that they can be used to improve the performance and quality of the healthcare system.
Our speakers will share with you their knowledge and experience of the management methodologies; their strengths, and how they can be applied within our healthcare system cohesively to support delivery of our key organisational goals.
